(DAILY UPDATES) A portrait of a youthful death in the face of dashed hopes and dreams, racing against time. Jessica is facing death. With the care and support of her family, but ultimately, it’s a lonely fate. What goes through her mind facing this inevitability? I wrote this at a low point in my life, losing several loved ones to terminal illnesses in a span of 2 years. The diseases ranged from various cancers, HIV/AIDS, Hypertension, Diabetes, uou name it, it happened. This story stems from my interactions with the patients, their caregivers, friends, coworkers and socioin general during that time. Our grief at the time, especially mourning while the person is trying their best to live, or has given up; these wove the tapestry of this story. HIV/ AIDS was chosen purely because of social attitudes especially in rural Kenya. However modern my people clim to be, deep down runs an unfathomable vein of superstition, and it is wielded like a sword by society - ignorant and enlightened alike - at thise suffering from diseases that sap life. This story is purely fictional: my respectful Tribute to those who inevitably left, their brave caregivers, families and friends. Wherever your spirits fly free from pain and care, I Salute You!
