Noir Necromancer - Cinders of the Past

Noir Necromancer - Cinders of the Past

by Eldritch Blight

FantasyMagicMale LeadMysteryShort Story

When the wards fail and fire starts licking the bones of my old home, the city notices. By the time I get there, it’s already burning. Taking my past with it, my secrets, and anything someone decided shouldn’t stay buried. The cops call it an accident. I watch a laughing ember claw its way into the night and know better. I’m left picking through the wreckage of my life, old allies crawling out of the smoke, and new problems clawing their way loose. Cordelia, a witch finally free of her chains, a enamel enamoured fairy who has a bone to pick with me but was the only witness.  The City of the Dead feels restless now, like something massive just shifted in its sleep. Whether this is the first tremor of a coming nightmare or the awakening of something far worse, one thing’s clear: this fire was only the beginning, and I need answers before the city burns with me in it
