Oros: Roots of Stone

Oros: A world formed of a great ring of mountains surrounding a central circular valley, the claim divided amongst three realms: Collosea, Haemonine and Ruskel, with each realm flanked at the outer boundaries by impenetrable, hazardous lands. Though Oros has known peace for many decades now, these realms, driven by Collosean ambition, Haemonine envy, and Ruskelite distrust, would never consider themselves allies, save for the trade of goods. But this reluctant peace is now under threat. The discovery of Undara Serum by the Haemonine botanist, Krillar Valkueda some 20 years ago has brought about a new industrial revolution. With the Haemonines' monopolistic control of the now-inviable Undara, tensions amongst the populations are rising, fuelled further by underground cults operating in the shadows, each with their own agenda and vision for Oros. Follow the lives of a range of individuals as they navigate these trialling times: A pensive soldier left untethered by a recent rank demotion, who suddenly becomes burdened by tragedy, a resourceful spy who holds the prosperity of his realm above all else, a young botanist specialising in arcane flora - the rare and powerful plant species that grant magical abilities to the consumer, a down-on-his-luck tradesman who overhears a secret that may alter the very fate of Oros. All these and others tell the story of the eye of mountains.  What to expect:  - 3-4 chapters per character, featuring 2-3 characters from each of the three realms of Oros. - Short- to medium-sized chapters. - Georgian-era / early 1800s levels of technology. - A magic system built around plant life/botanicals.- A new chapter every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
