Patternborn: The Vital Thread

Casren saw the horse dying before anyone else knew it was sick. Golden threads woven through its body,  slowly strangling under creeping shadow. He reached out without thinking—and the threads answered.   That was his first mistake.   In the Accord, the Patternborn are hunted. The Seekers drag the gifted to the Capital for Severance, or  they burn the villages that hide them. For three hundred years, the Doctrine has been absolute: those who   touch the Threads are corruption given flesh.   Now Casren flees west with his best friend Brennan and Lira, the silver-touched girl the Seekers fear  even more than healers. Behind them comes Vorath—a Seeker who has killed three hundred of their kind and  believes Casren is something that hasn't existed in centuries.   An Unbound. One who can touch all five Threads.   Not a person to be severed.   A weapon to be claimed.
