Fifty years after humanity changed, power is part of daily life. It is regulated and studied. People work, drink, fall in love, and waste time the same way they always have. When a teenager becomes infected, it doesn’t matter to anyone else. He doesn’t panic or search for meaning. He enjoys what he wants, thinks carefully, and moves through life without guilt or restraint. He isn’t cruel and he isn’t kind. He simply lives fully, aware of his advantages and unconcerned with what they should be used for. This is a story about power finding someone who feels everything life offers, except the need to be good.
