On the world called Regent, six gods vie for dominion over each other and the mortals who worship them. One continent remains fragmented unwilling to pledge allegiance to a single god, and it is all that stands between devotion and the long‑foretold Final Theomachy, a divine battle that will decide which god will transcend the world and ascend to cosmic supremacy. But the balance of power shifts when a lone sorcerer unearths arcana to kill a god, and vows to free Regent from their divine tyranny forever.
Standing in his way are a rag-tag team of misfits: Mandrake, a Blade of the Hierophant, ruler of the world; Abithar, a theurgist whose conscience starts to clash with his loyalty to the earth‑god Meggidon; Asha, the last known surviving assassin of the Hierophant’s purge; and Berthold, a bard prophesied to destroy the world, though he is too proud to recognize it. As gods become more intrusive in the affairs of mortals, bringing the world closer to the Final Theomachy, the group must decide whether saving their world means upholding the will of their god or allowing a heretic to burn the world anew. Who is right, who is wrong, and does it even matter when a world is ruined by the complex plans of gods and men?
Of Gods and Men: The Heretic is an epic fantasy novel exploring violence, faith, and the thin line between free will and fate.
