Long John and the Spider Pirates

Long John, space pirate, has been in trouble all his life, since the colony ship he was on exploded. His old crew has deserted him, and since he needs to recruit a new crew, why not spiders? An eerie entity has emerged from a black hole and is targeting planetary systems, wreaking havoc as it travels into the galaxy. It’s so distant that only Long John and his crew are willing to take it seriously.
