Vow

In the frozen North, an ancient fortress called Valkyss stands, ruled by a Warden whose power knows no limits nor mercy. Sorah belongs to him, but things weren’t always this way. Once free, once named, once something more than the property she is now, Sorah lives as one of the Warden’s attendants: silken, obedient, and dependent on a drug called shine that steals memory and will alike. She tells herself she no longer dreams of swords, of fire, of a life she cannot remember.  When the Crown arrives for a visit, a silent guest walks among them. Hidden beneath shadows, Sorah does not recognize him, though something in her blood does. A forbidden bond stirs, one forged long before her memories were taken and sealed by a vow that once demanded her death. As the kingdom’s politics darken and ancient powers forge anew, Sorah is drawn toward her old life and the truth, and must find her identity in a world where peace is a myth and power is bought with lives. Love can be a dangerous kind of magic, and what the blood remembers may be the only thing strong enough to set her free.
