Ugly Doctor

The world, foul as it persists, is afflicted with disease. Man, flora and fauna are all ailing. Boils, rashes, and lesions: sickness manifests in all manner of forms and all sorts of creatures. It is indiscriminating, and for every illness that is snuffed out another appears. Despite struggles against these sinister maladies there is seemingly no end.  Imagine for a moment, though, that there is a divine panacea that brings about salvation for the unwell. What true betterment would it bring? It would certainly do no good in mending the wretched hearts of men and women. They hate that which is other. This incurable loathing within the public is, in fact, the real disease. Knowing all this, and the futility of one’s efforts, will you still persevere, good doctor?
