A County Under Attack!Sometimes doing the right thing can have a heavy cost. At Blaise of Dragoul's dreaded wedding, Isabeau is forced to take an action that plays right into the hand of those who desire war with the county she calls home. At the forefront of the invasion are the White Lions, an army of mercenaries headed by a monster from her past. Isabeau must face her regrets head-on, Loren embarks on an important mission to request aid from his estranged mother, and Blaise is thrust into a position he didn't expect to be in until much later in life. To win the battle ahead, the young Executioner-Knights must each cross blades with foes which are like shadows of themselves...or die in the Lions' jaws. What To Expect: - More traditional fantasy, no rpg mechanics or progression outside of character development. - A dark medieval setting with reasonably realistic and accurate portrayals of combat and warfare outside of the existence of alchemical creatures and holy magic. - A relatively dark tone but with some funny moments. This is a story where you will laugh, cry, and be thrown on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster in some scenes. - The protagonists fighting a group of villains that are like dark mirrors of themselves. This book is a sequel to The Black Knight's Homunculus, so read that first before reading The White Lions.
