Metastasis

It's been a few hundred years since Humanity first broke free of the binds of our planet and began exploring our galaxy. Our solar system has been charted and explored, but what lies beyond? Is humanity alone amongst the stars? Exploratory vessels are constantly searching for new habitable planets or signs of life, but it's dangerous work. Ships break down or are attacked constantly. The Central Earth Government (CEG) fields operations staffed by trained soldiers, engineers and medics like those on aboard The Ortego to rescue those stranded in space. Recently, a distress signal has been detected far past where any known vessel has reached. The Ortego has been assigned to investigate the source of the signal. Over a year has passed since the crew first entered cryostasis and they will soon be woken to begin their mission. No one knows what they will find, but they can only hope they will be in time to save whoever is still alive on this mysterious ship.
