A Destiny To Follow

Anne has a brain that will not stop growing and a life that refuses to make sense. At eighteen, she knows exactly what she wants: to marry a rich, good-looking man and to make pink rubber bands for people’s toes. Simple goals. Reasonable goals. Unfortunately, Anne also rents an apartment she cannot afford, works a job taking out the trash for three dollars an hour, forgets about rent entirely, and accidentally ends up owing an amount of money so large it cannot be emotionally processed. This leads to a court case, a free lawyer from her church named Vladimir, and the first time Anne ever wants to kiss someone. Along the way, she survives on coconut milk and cheese, writes daily cheesy notes, rides a bus without a ticket, travels by snail, and somehow wins.
