[Low Fantasy, Thriller, Mystery, Slow Burn] In a distant village where silence and order are the highest form of devotion, a series of quiet disappearances and concealed murders plant the seed of doubt and fear. When an outsider is brought in to administer a solution, a small group of villagers begin to notice that there is more at play. A Quiet Village Under God is a low-fantasy mystery story placed in a secluded village, Blackmere, which takes place in a middle millennium time period. It's intended to be a slow burn exploration of the strange town from the perspective of Blackmere's first newcomer in some time, Brother Alard. What are the strange happenings in Blackmere? Why is the village so deeply rooted in tradition and order? And how will Blackmere handle the truth? Follow Brother Alard and found out in A Quiet Village Under God. What to expect: - A slow burn thriller mystery as the protagonist understands a strange town. - Light theological and political siege. - Exploration of an ensemble cast of characters. - Slight whodunnit elements, but not primary focus. - Casual worldbuilding and character development. A side note on the removed AI-Assisted tag: Some of you might have seen this previously tagged as AI-Assisted. Originally, it was to inform you that I had used ChatGPT to help better understand the proper phrasing and tonality for a story of this period-based genre by writing the work myself before having ChatGPT interpret it with the appropriate lingo, where I would finally rewrite it again with both versions in mind. I have removed the tag because I will no longer be doing that. I had felt before that my voice came through entirely, despite ChatGPT's aid. However, I would think readers like yourself might not know what is your human author versus the AI chatbot since this is my first submitted work. I wanted to leave this note in order to maintain truth, clarity, and trust in the author-reader relationship. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy the journey ahead!
