FAR AWAY

FAR AWAY

Anti-Villain LeadGrimdarkHistoricalHorrorLocal Protagonist

Genre: Tribal Ethereal Horror | Grimdark | Alternative History Tone: Cinematic Minimalism, Atmospheric, Indigenous Noir. The story begins on the sun-drenched beaches of Banaba, where two young boys, Pedro and Chalo, play a restless game with a coconut ball. Their play is interrupted by the harsh discipline of their Uncle Tinko, whose interaction with his friend Tako reveals a culture of bravado and playful rivalry. However, the lighthearted bickering is cut short when they spot a lone, mysterious vessel (waa) on the horizon—an unusual sight that sparks immediate concern. As the news of the approaching boat spreads, the narrative shifts to the heart of the village, introducing Chief Maluma and  Tenia. Despite Maluma's attempt at lighthearted flirtation, the arrival of the vessel shifts the mood to one of gravity. The village represented by the industrious Teniko and her children Tako and Rania—is pulled from its daily rhythms toward the shore. The chapter culminates in a tense standoff at the water's edge. As the vessel draws near, the villagers realize these are no ordinary travelers. The four sailors on board possess an "inhuman" quality—wearing strange red powder, displaying complex rigging, and bearing wounds that suggest they are fleeing a violent conflict. The arrival shatters the island’s peace, leaving the villagers to wonder if they are facing ancestors made flesh, refugees of war, or a looming threat to their existence. ## IIMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING PAST CHAPTERS! 📢 Hey everyone, I’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make the reading experience as seamless and powerful as possible. You might notice that a few chapters have been removed or altered, so I wanted to give you a quick breakdown of what changed and why:  * **Clarity Over Overload:** Some sections had a bit too much sensory detail, which was slowing down the momentum. To fix this, I merged two chapters into one, prioritizing clear, sharp storytelling so you can stay locked into the action.  * **Authenticity and Language Updates:** I’ve adjusted some of the Kiribati terms and specific dialogue lines to remove confusion and give the world a more accurate, authentic feel.  * **Timeline Correction:** I realized with a heavy heart that a few earlier chapters weren't in strict chronological order. I’ve gone back and ironed everything out so that the story now flows exactly as it was meant to along the timeline. ### What This Means For You: The plot, the character dynamics, and the core of the story you love are **exactly the same**. However, because of these adjustments, you are going to notice a much faster progression in the overall pace and a swift escalation of the stakes! Thank you so much for your patience and support while I fine-tune this universe. I can't wait for you to experience the story the way it was truly meant to unfold! ⚠️ PLEASE NOTE: This update applies to the past chapters of Phase 1. ⚠️
