In a world ravaged by endless monster waves, humanity's last hope — and greatest curse — is Akrion, the crimson energy that bends reality itself. Shin, leader of the elite Southern Wind, arrives at Ma'arath Fortress with a dual mission: aid the defenders after a brutal year-long winter… and secretly investigate the new lord. What he uncovers beneath the fortress is far worse than betrayal. Chained in darkness, a boy with unnatural strength and no Akrion holds the key to the fortress's horrors — and perhaps to something far older than any of them understand. As ancient powers awaken and the monsters outside begin to change, one truth becomes clear: humanity's greatest threat was never the waves. It was always what came after.
