Jet is a Bantan, a Draconian species known for two things: their massive strength, and becoming notorious space pirates. Jet starts out on his homeworld in the galaxy of Gano as a slave, captured in tribal war and sold to preserve his life. After meeting a human offworlder at his place of servitude, a mishap changes the course of Jet's destiny. He saves the human's life, and in return is offered a chance to see the stars... but there's more strings attached to the deal than Jet was expecting! The Rise of Jet is the first book in an ongoing series titled 'Road of Stars.' While the main character of Jet the Bantan will be followed throughout the series, each book introduces an ever-widening circle of characters, events, and consequences leading to the eventual discovery of the Road of Stars... and all that it entails. You can expect deep character development, colorful and memorable personalities, betrayal, revenge, corporate greed, space battles, piracy, the struggle for freedom, deep-space exploration, the mysteries of what might or might not be space gods, and much more in this expansive space-opera style adventure. Author's Note: I began this story specifically for the RR Magazine contest and as a challenge to myself. It was a challenge in two ways: first, I had never developed the Dragonoid-dominated planet of Banta in my sci-fi universe setting. Second, I'd never written a web novel on demand before. The galaxy of Gano is my very first and oldest story setting, I created it around 1989 and have been working on it ever since. That's over 35 years of active development, so there's lots of lore to explore! This story is one of my largest and most involved. I plan to have at least two series to cover the whole story arc, with each series containing at least three to five books depending on how long it takes me to work it out. I expect a minimum of 6 to 8 full-length novels when complete, each of at least 90k words. Currently Book One, 'The Rise of Jet', is complete, and I am working out Book Two, 'Pirate's Run.' Art: Please forgive the cheezy AI covers I'm using. I'll draw some eventually but I just wanted something there for now that gives a kind of an idea of the character.
