How to Kill Magic

Twenty years ago, monsters started appearing, terrifying creatures that crawl from abandoned homes with the goal to kill and consume. Some people have powers now. They gained fancy abilities, new outlooks, and pupils shaped like colorful flowers. The government manages and classifies powered people as either Heroes or Villains. Heroes fight monsters on the news, and Villains are hunted. Other than that it's a normal world, despite the fact that I'm blind. By my twenty-first birthday, I hadn't gained powers, and all I had was my best friend Eve and my love of cheesecake. That was, until I was quite literally yanked from my best friend and forced into another world. I feel like the main character of an anime. Now I can see for the first time in my life. The cost? Everything I thought I knew. On the other side of reality, magic flows through an ancient tree that blots out the sky, and faith is of the utmost importance. Otherworldly creatures inhabit the land, and nothing is as it seems. Everyone believes they're fighting for survival. And I'm caught between them, blind girl turned seeing, with a best friend being trained to kill. Sight cost me my home, my friend, my life, and choosing a side might cost both worlds everything.
