We turned a world of chaos into one of peace, and humanity loved us for it. Then they destroyed us. Betrayed by the people she loved and brought low by a man claiming to be humanity’s “hero,” the Dragon Empress Ariandre Grace Veiltide is sent back in time by a mysterious System and given another chance to save her empire from destruction. But as she settles into her new role as a low-level thief, the true corruption of her empire becomes clear. Perhaps the hero was not wrong when he called her a monster. Her people have suffered under her rule. In a world governed by the strong, the weak are trodden upon like cobblestones. This was never the vision she had for her people. Though the future may be written, that doesn’t mean the words can’t be changed. To burn down her empire, and change the future, she’ll need to embrace the image the hero painted of her.  She’ll need to become a monster. Volume One completed. It is set in a somewhat dark and heavy world, and some of the earlier chapters are definitely heavier to help set the tone.- A complex MC that straddles the line between villain, anti-villain, and would-be hero.- Numbers go up.
