Some destinies are big enough for even death to keep its distance. Reggie was not an important person, quite the opposite. He was the town lunatic, hated by all and less than an afterthought to the elves ruling over his people. That changed when he was killed to keep a secret, and his death didn't stick. Returning from the grave as a vampire, he scrambles to keep himself fed and living while trying to make sense of his new place in the world. But the fear of dying again quickly becomes secondary. It will take all of Reggie's will to maintain his humanity in a world that already thinks he's lost it.
