Let the Wild God Wait

Let the Wild God Wait

by GwenRobin

DramaFantasyMagicMale Gay RomanceMale Lead

Kyros once loved to run. Now he does it to stay alive. Upon winning a citywide pentathlon, the mortal caught the eye of the Hunt God Aurenox, and was dragged into the god’s wild domain. Aurenox named him his chosen and expected obedience. Happiness was his for a time, but when the god commits an unforgivable transgression, Kyros had no choice but to flee. Now the Hunt God wants him back. Hounds stalk him across forest and field, and every mile puts Kyros farther from the life he knew. He doesn’t understand why Aurenox fixated on him, only that the god thinks Kyros belongs in his realm and will rip the earth apart to reclaim him. When Kyros finally collapses at the edge of the Eterne Meadows, he’s rescued by Somriel, the Rest God, who offers sanctuary no god is supposed to break. For the first time, Kyros has space to breathe. Yet his presence in Somriel’s peaceful domain stirs something ancient in his own soul, something the gods recognize even if he doesn’t. Aurenox circles the borders, furious. Other gods begin to take interest.  Kyros must decide whether to keep running, give himself up, or uncover the truth of what Aurenox saw in him the moment he won that race. Because whatever lives inside Kyros is powerful enough to shift the balance of the pantheon. And the hunt is far from over. ********* Hello, and thank you for checking out my story! While it does deal with some adult themes, you will hopefully find this be a relatively dreamlike place. In essence, this story is about reclaiming yourself and your agency.  I wrote this as a personal challenge. Typically, I write high-fantasy--so this prose style was new to me in a lot of ways! If you have any stylistic suggestions, let me know. I am open to feedback  There are also some trigger warnings I'd like to share: -Physical violence, including injuries from pursuit and hunts, and gladiatorial-like games. -Psychological trauma related to stalking and captivity. -Manipulation and coercion. -Animal-like predation (hound attacks, chase scenes). -Mild body horror in divine realms and dreamscapes. -Implied past physical relationship -Implied past abuse(not shown on page) -Power Imbalances between love interests -S*xual content, though not egregious Please let me know if you have any questions, or if you feel this is an incomplete list :) Cheers-- Gwen <3

Both levers trail the field

Traffic and conversion are both below comparable stories. Cadence is the first lever — stories posting near-daily reached 25 followers 17% of the time; stories posting every few days almost never did. Get the flow going, then re-check conversion.

Benchmarks: 8,060 active Royal Road stories, percentiles within the 10–19 chapters band, cohort of 2026-07-02. Conversion is measured as followers gained per 1,000 views over the recent window.
