Out of the Mists

Garban and his son Alef live on the edge of the only land that has been spared from the eternal winter that came when the Old Magic was pulled deep into the earth. They are pushed into a conflict when warriors from the capital occupy their town for unknown reasons. Due to his haunted past, Garban wants nothing more than for them to lay low and stay safe, but Alef wants to become a hero of legend and make a name for himself. The decision itself may be taken from them as tensions rise. This story is meant to be very character driven, with the story centering on Garban and Alef's relationship, the mysteries that Garban is trying to keep his son away from, and how they handle the fight brought to their home.
