Time Capsuled Archmage

Book 1- The best is the enemy of the second best. In this case the next twenty. The best archmage was defeated and killed by nearly all the others, but he had cracked reincarnation while keeping his power.  Except he came back dozens of millenia late. In a long dead city that hadn't existed when he was first killed. Nearly all the world forgot him and he seeks not only to survive, but to bring stability and peace to those who help him.   Book 2- Having survived and dealt with some of the local problems, larger issues in the region loom over him. Reacting to problems is worse than dealing with them head on. The land was abandoned by the other archmages by treaty, though will it remain so when they find out of the return of the biggest threat to them?
