Jake Gantry just wants out. Out of his dead-end neighborhood in Columbus, out from under his father’s fists, and into a future where he can finally breathe. College is supposed to be that escape—but survival is the more immediate problem. Jake has a secret: he can see the dead. Worse, their voices follow him. The gangs that control his neighborhood turf want him gone, the police wouldn’t believe him even if they cared, and somewhere far above his world, strange benefactors are watching—offering money, help, and opportunity. Always with a price. Now Jake has to decide how far he’ll go to protect the few people he cares about, even as the line between survival and damnation blurs. An urban fantasy with grit, ghosts, queer themes, and moral choices, this is a slow-burn progression story where every skill comes from the dead—and every gift demands its cost.
