You’re not a real spacer until you lose everything. Twice. Heath was piloting the Wandering Loon on a cargo run through deep space when a freak astral storm tossed his smooth life-plan out past the Edge.  After limping into port in a ship that can barely fly, the right move is clear. Heath should sell the Loon for parts and start over somewhere new. All the old spacers agree it's the only way out. When he discovers the storm has brought more than just heartbreak, Heath ignores their advice and determines to restore the ship to her former glory, and preserve his uncle’s legacy. From dabbling with smugglers to supplying explorers on the frontier, Heath and his brand-new crew will seize any opportunity to make it as independent haulers.  But life on the Rim is a constant struggle: get strong enough to defend themselves or get crushed by those who can, and Heath soon discovers that what he has inherited is far more dangerous than just a starship and a dream.
