In a land scorched by prophecy and ash, one guardian awakens on the edge of death — haunted by fire, hunted by shadow, and driven by a single memory: her. Caden was trained to protect the sacred. Bound by duty. Forbidden to love. But as the world burns and unnatural horrors rise from the smoke, it’s not the temple he clings to — it’s the echo of her voice. “Come for me.” With his past lost to flame and his future buried in ash, Caden must rise and forge a new fate. The Blade of Mimic has awakened. And somewhere beyond the inferno… she waits. This is the first in a series of connected short stories set in the world of my upcoming novel, The Dying of the Light. Each arc in Whispers of the Dying Light reveals deeper layers of forgotten legends, ancient powers, and the souls who shape the fate of this world.
