Level 1 Ghost

Lex was a basement dwelling, caffeine fueled, MMO junkie with zero real world accomplishments and a level 80 necromancer he was weirdly proud of. One unlucky night, Lex dies, chokes on a chicken nugget while arguing in chat. Lame as hell. Instead of the afterlife, he wakes up as a ghost, tethered to the city he lived in. He’s now part of the Haunting System, a bizarre, half-broken LitRPG framework that tracks XP from tormenting the living, learning ghost powers, and causing supernatural mayhem. His best friend Miles is stuck dealing with Portland’s magical underbelly: soul-harvesting cults, hipster necromancers, vape-shop warlocks, and consumer electronics that definitely shouldn’t be possessed but absolutely are.
