A saga about life after life. Aurra, Earth's opposite twin, is where every soul goes to live the second half of a full life and mind has power over matter. Cities are protected by domes of light from a lethal atmosphere, some speak to animals or hone their skill in alchemagi, and a conflict centuries in the making now burns across the world of dreams. One fought In the sky with airships, and in the caustic seas aboard battleships, guided by youthful commanders sacrificing their childhoods. What will remain of the old ways when it is finally over? It began when a pair of siblings took on a task from General Rivia to investigate why one of Aurra's largest metropolises was unable to birth children. Garder, an everyday guy who has no interest in being known, and Milla, an older soul who was once a queen, suddenly find themselves pursued by the ruling Guard, who want to keep this crisis from the public. They find themselves sliding into a rebellion centuries in the making, earning the support of new friends along the way. Able to wield magic and draw upon past experiences of countless lives, this group might just have what it takes to rebuild Aurra into the paradise it was expected to be. Part 4 - Realms Unseen The war is over, and a new alliance between the Angels and the newly-formed Protectorate is taking shape. No doubt they will be precursor political parties for the republic we are trying to create in Aurra. We are a few short months out from this world’s first general election. I, too, wish I could see these big changes through an idealistic lens. But I have doubts. Concerns that, despite what others might believe, have nothing to do with me being a reborn Zandri, half-sister to the late, power-hungry, blind, and utterly inept King Lontonkon. This transition would be happening too fast in the best of times, and these are still the worst of times. They will be so long as William Drides and his crazed fanatics are still running wild out there, biding their time. One day soon, they are going to announce themselves in a terrifying way. All of us know this, as much as we’d like to lie to ourselves that we can rebuild this world under his lingering shadow. What most of the others do not see, however, is that when he enacts the first stage of his plans, so will the beginning of Aurra’s end be heralded. Perhaps our last remaining hopes are with the remaining unknown places, the unseen realms. Or will even the Administrators let this world die? What Aurra needs in its last hours is power. I could have been a queen. I can wield pure destruction. They only need to ask for my help. I grow impatient. ~ Rayna Carthy, Former Heir to the Throne Read ahead on Patreon - Building Backlog, Hoping to Keep Pace - Chapter 102 is written! Site: valice.net/aurra-series Revising Part 1. The story will be unchanged, but I'm aiming to improve the prose notably. It'll take a while, so don't hesitate to read the story now. Progress: 7/27 More details: 💻  Writing is free of AI or assistance. AI art used just for fun, world-building, and visualizing/sharing concepts.👥  A large cast that can change alliances, with peeks at the villains and their scheming. A pair of twins are the main leads. ❣️ What the heck's a harem? Minimal romance.📆 The story takes place in the 2000s, and following a timeskip after the start of the war, the 2010s.🗺  About ~90% of it takes place in a fantasy world, but Earth does play a part and is visited on occasion.📕 Some moderate world-building early on to establish the problem that needs to be dealt with, but exposition is more spread out afterwards.👼 You like reincarnation? Most everyone has been reincarnated! Multiple times! And they reflect on their many past lives now and then. The concept of "life going on… and on" may be an enjoyable comfort for some readers.🤬 Profanity is mild and while death and destruction do occur, it is usually described in moderation.🧠 Everyone can use telepathy. It doesn't happen often, but it's useful sometimes.👸 Fun characters that aren't overly serious. Aurra isn't too lighthearted, but it's no grimdark series with lots of brooding. Mostly.🔮 Special rocks called synthids are used to make objects and food, plus other strange forms of technology, like carriages of pure light that can transport our cast across the world instantly.✨ Magical alignments with a unique usage hierarchy. Watairre (water and air), Iron, Earth, Mind, and Plant alchemagi can be used by most anyone. More powerful alignments have exclusivity to individuals born adept with them, they being Fire, Lightning, Solar (light), and Vector (beams of energized matter, the "coolest" of the bunch). Nova adepts can destroy matter and blow people up, but they aren't around anymore. Or so it's said.🐆 Summonable creatures of pure alchemagi. 🗻 A long run with flowing chapters; few major timeskips. 🦎 No dragons, but if bio-engineered five-legged beasts that can be vicious war animals, friendly, or just haul stuff fit your fancy, you might enjoy the rairer.🕵️ Political intrigue and mysteries spanning chapters.🌇 26 Cities, plus a few weird pocket-dimension areas, all of which are eventually seen at least a little.💪 Multiple overpowered people like the Apostle who can use every alignment, and paradigms who greatly excel at a single alignment.🌟 Finally, a unique system of suppression and providence that provides challenges. At first, members of the Guard can't be fought against because the minds of others won't allow it, meaning they can rule with impunity. When that benefit is removed, civilians still can't target one another, making Guard implants both a boon and a curse.
