Only after stealing the culmination of a few centuries worth of illegal magical experimentation of course. In a world where resurrection magic means death is more of a suggestion for the upper class than the rule, Asher eventually discovers his stolen power is capable of ensuring anything that dies by his hand, stays dead. For some reason, a lot of very powerful people find this rather upsetting. An ancient cabal of forgotten liches. The elite organization of noble truthseekers.
