The Epic of Antares [Dark Fantasy Saga]

"Before he was a God, he was a king. Before he was a King, he was a son. Before he was Scorned, he was venerated. Before he was Venerated, he was beloved. His name was Antares And this is his Epic." For the last five years, Crown Prince Antares Xerxes had been exiled for the slaughter of Nykolas Xerxes: his closest friend and the only man whoever truly understood him. Stripped of his titles and honors and right to marry the woman he loved, he was cast adrift without purpose or direction forced to bear the horrors of this terrible act. However years later King Barranagan Xerxes, legendary hero and father of the exiled prince, with his dying breath decreed that his wayward son return home and assume the crown of Iliad in his stead. The final act of a father to his son: to once again give him purpose, a reason to exist and a way to atone.  Adorned with a crown he believes he is unworthy of wearing, and once again surrounded by enemies and allies whose roles change with every action he takes. Antares strives to hold his realm and family together as he navigates a continent inhabited by eight other realms who wish to-in one way or another-exist without the influence that Iliad has exerted for thousands of years. All the while trying to carry out Nykolas' last wishes. Enthralled by visions of his own death, haunted by demons from his past and the consequences of the blind loyalty he once held for his own realm. With his father no longer around to hold back the tides of Fate and the horrors that be. The fickle mistress has chosen Antares Xerxes to usher in a new age, one that is marked by a boundless sea of blood and from it risen the birth of a new divine being.  This is the story of a beloved Son, who died a venerated King and was reborn a scorned God.  What To Expect: -  Slow burn narrative BUT extremely original high fantasy story setting in a fantastical world full of millennia's worth of mysteries. - A story that takes place over ten years. - Deeply layered and memorable cast of characters. - Descriptive, detailed and graphic action scenes, as well as large scale battles across multiple battlefields. - Topics on religion, politics and philosophy explored through characters actions and beliefs.  - Unique take on magic as well as other forms of power.
