There isn't just a grain of truth behind superstition. It's a boulder of truth, and it's about to roll onto the world. The world has forgotten the ancient ways of magic, ritual, and the occult. The arcane power that was once abundant is now a finite resource, locked deep in the vaults of the few who still remember the old ways. To the rest of the world, magic is nothing but superstition. Once-powerful creatures are remembered as simple cryptids from old stories. Organizations that once guided the world of mortals from the shadows have become conspiracy theories. And that is the world in which Samuel was born. The last member of a once-infamous family of wizards known for their deals with eldritch beings. Now, he is a young mage working a boring job as an exorcist, mostly dealing with squeaky floors and drafty houses, drifting through life on autopilot while dreaming of tales of old arcane prowess. Until the day everything changes, and a promise of chaos and the revival of magic arrives. As cryptids crawl out of their hidden lairs, Ouija boards start summoning real demons, and college Halloween haunted-house parties turn into true horrors, the world begins to change. Amid all the chaos, only one thing comes to mind for an heir to dark wizards—an opportunity to restore his family’s ways. Yet it is not only magic that returns. The awakening of arcane power seems to stir a conspiracy stretching back to ancient times and the war that tore the world of magic apart. A war ended by Sam’s ancestors. What to expect: - Slow descent of society into chaos - An extensive magic system based on knowledge, occult, and ritual - Paranormal investigations - Competent and morally grey protagonist - Lovecraftian abomination here and there - Horror and mystery elements - The litRPG elements as part of the world rather than a system - Regular updates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays - No harem
